What is a keloid scar?

A keloid scar forms when there is an overproduction of collagen. The scar grows upward and outward, beyond its original border. The coloration can range from red to brown. These types of scars can be painful and are typically sensitive.

What is a hypertrophic scar?

A hypertrophic scar is similar to a keloid scar, but the scarring stays within the boundaries of the original scar.
